Kontogiannis Family's background is anchored in a legacy of 5 generations of vintners from the area of Corinth, Greece, with its history dating back to the when Theo Kontogiannis' great-great grandfather started with viticulture and winemaking along with olive farming. Through the years, winemaking had started to fade, and the family went from having a family-owned winery during the 1900s, to focusing solely on the farming vineyards and groves. For the last 20 years, starting with Theo's father, they are reviving the family tradition, by producing their own wines again and converting to organic since 1999 and applying biodynamics since 2006. The small winemaking family business produces wines only from indigenous varieties, using low intervention inthe best sense, and has some of the most healthy and prestine vineyards to be found, full of cover crops and bio-diversity.
