Terrevive

Italy · Emilia-Romagna

Terrevive is the brainchild of Gianluca Bergianti, who has been farming biodynamically in Gargallo di Carpi, outside Modena, since 2008. With 35 hectares dedicated not only to vineyards but also to grains, fruits, and vegetables, the estate thrives on a polycultural philosophy where just 10 hectares are reserved for native grape varieties. In the cellar, Gianluca is uncompromising: no commercial yeasts, no additives, no dosage—just raw authenticity. He rejects the Charmat method entirely, opting instead for the ancestral, pre-Charmat technique, even cheekily naming a bottling “No Autoclave.” His Lambruscos are bone-dry, crackling with energy, and utterly alive, carrying riveting acidity and a sense of immediacy that defies categorization. Even the winery itself embodies Gianluca’s eccentric vision: wines ferment in custom cement vessels and rest in a self-built hillside icehouse that balances practicality with whimsy. The result is a collection of profoundly expressive, joyfully unconventional wines that capture Emilia-Romagna’s spirit through the lens of a true original.
